This is a great piece for beginners. It might literally be the easiest origami I have made in my entire life.
I just stumbled across this origami piece one day, and I couldn’t get over its pure awesomeness. So, instead of just staring at a picture of it, I decided to make my own. This is a very basic picture frame. If you use solid color paper, it might look standard and boring. However, if you use brightly patterned origami paper like I did, it will bring your picture frame to life. Five years of my life were devoted to teaching my parakeet, Frodo, new songs to sing and dance to. He loved the music played, especially David Archuleta, which made me super happy since Archuleta is my favorite, as well. Frodo passed away in 2013. This was made in memory of him. This is the perfect “extra touch” for a Valentine’s Day gift. The heart has a pocket down the middle that little love notes can be slipped into. I seem to usually make origami pieces that I’m familiar with, and that I’m surrounded by in real life. We’ve had goldfish in our fish tank for years and years. Here is a pretty simple and straightforward origami goldfish. This is a unique piece that takes one dollar bill to create. When I first discovered this origami piece, I didn’t fold it because I was mad rich and needed a way to dispense my money. No, it was because of the uniqueness and quirkiness. Give it a try! But, to be safe, first practice on regular paper or Monopoly money.
Ringo was the best cat I have ever had. When he passed away, my whole family was devastated. I stumbled across this origami piece one day, and I was taken aback to when Ringo was still in my life. I wanted to have a way to remember him, so I made this piece, and I gave one to each family member as memorial. When we started to raise bunnies on our family farm, I discovered that I had an immense love for them. Obsession took over, so I turned to origami and decided to give this bunny a shot. This origami work was included in the first origami instruction book I ever owned. I was never ambitious enough to tackle this piece, but then came the day that we started to raise bunnies on our family farm. My love for rabbits continued to grow, and so I decided to give this piece a shot. I was quite young when attempting this work, so some steps were severely difficult. However, the “inflatable” part of the bunny is so much fun! The last step is to blow into the mouth of the bunny like you’re giving it CPR, and then, as if you’ve given the rabbit its first breath, the piece really comes to life. |
