When we started to raise bunnies on our family farm, I discovered that I had an immense love for them. Obsession took over, so I turned to origami and decided to give this bunny a shot.
This origami work was included in the first origami instruction book I ever owned. I was never ambitious enough to tackle this piece, but then came the day that we started to raise bunnies on our family farm. My love for rabbits continued to grow, and so I decided to give this piece a shot. I was quite young when attempting this work, so some steps were severely difficult. However, the “inflatable” part of the bunny is so much fun! The last step is to blow into the mouth of the bunny like you’re giving it CPR, and then, as if you’ve given the rabbit its first breath, the piece really comes to life. My mother loves butterflies, and since I have an obsession with origami, I thought, “Why not make her a butterfly out of paper?” It couldn’t be that hard, right? Wrong. This piece challenged me, and the end result is not exactly what the tutorial pictures. However, I like to accept the fact that I tried, and the piece I created is now uniquely mine. Or, rather, my mother’s. |
